Pre-Wedding Meeting With Your Florist 04/01/2010
![]() To ensure everything runs smoothly and is delivered and setup on time, schedule a pre-wedding meeting to discuss the timeline and details of your wedding. For example, your bouquets, corsages and boutonnieres should be delivered prior to your photographer’s arrival so they can be included in any pre-ceremony pictures. Also, ask your florists if there is any maintenance you need to do on the day of the wedding to keep the flowers looking fresh through out the day (i.e. misting the arrangements, keeping the bouquets in water, etc) In addition to the pre-wedding meeting with your florist, make the necessary arrangements with your ceremony site and reception site managers to ensure the florist will be able to deliver and set up the arrangements during the time specified. When interviewing potential florist bring a list of your favorite flowers, pictures of arrangements you like, and a swatch of fabric from the bridesmaids’ dresses with you to your meetings to help convey your vision. During your meeting ask to see a portfolio of the florist’s recent work and confirm they will be the one creating the arrangements on your wedding day. Before deciding on a florist, make sure they understand your style and can create arrangements that match your vision and that are within your budget. Keep in mind the number or arrangements you need, the size of the arrangements, the type of flowers you use and the complexity of the design will all factor into the final cost. Find out which flowers will be in season and what colors they will be available in at the time of your wedding. Flowers that are in season are typically less expensive and easier to find. If you have your heart set on flowers that are out-of-season, your florist may be able to special order them for you. However, they will typically be more expensive. Floral Checklist 01/26/2010
