Your Videographer 12/02/2009
Finding the right videographer is very similar to finding the right photographer. You want someone who fits your style, is easy to work with and has mastered the art of being unobtrusive. You should cover all of the same topics when interviewing potential videographers: portfolio, backup plan, cost and package details. Start your search by asking family and friends for recommendations. Also, ask your photographer who they recommend. It is a plus if your videographer and photographer have worked together before and have a good working relationship. As with your photographer, make sure the person you are meeting with will be the videographer the day of your wedding. Ask to see a full video of a wedding they have shot not just a highlight real. The full length video will give a you a better understanding of their style and their skill set. When watching the video pay special attention to: o The quality of the video (i.e. steady camera work, sharp focus, etc.) o The audio (i.e. crisp sound) o The lighting (i.e. realistic color) o The editing (i.e. transitions, special effects, etc.) Q: Do we need a videographer? 11/30/2009
A: A videographer should be put in the “really nice to have” category. Definitely consider hiring a videographer if you have room in your budget. While a good photojournalistic photographer should be able to capture all the same moments, a videographer will be able to capture elements such as, sound and motion, that still photography simply can not.
